Frequently asked questions
Does trimming re-encode the audio and lose quality?
No. The file is decoded to raw samples in your browser, the region you selected is copied, and the result is written as WAV — an uncompressed format. There is no second lossy encode, so the trimmed section is sample-identical to the same section of the source. The trade-off is file size: a 3-minute WAV is roughly 30 MB against about 3 MB for an MP3.
Why is my exported clip a slightly different length than I selected?
Cuts land on sample boundaries, and with compressed sources the decoder may also add a few milliseconds of padding at the start. The difference is typically under 30 ms — inaudible for music, but it matters if you are cutting to an exact video frame. For frame-accurate work, trim slightly wide and align in your video editor.
How do I avoid the click at the start or end of my cut?
A click happens when the cut lands mid-waveform, leaving an instant jump in level. Move the cut point to a moment of near-silence, or leave a few milliseconds of quiet at each edge. Cutting on a beat sounds rhythmically right but is often the worst place technically, because that is exactly where the waveform is largest.
Are my audio files uploaded?
Never. Your file is decoded and processed with the Web Audio API directly in your browser. It never touches a server — processing even works offline.
What formats can I upload and download?
Upload anything your browser can play: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A/AAC and FLAC in most browsers. The processed result downloads as a high-quality WAV file.
Is it really free? Any length limit?
