Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. PicShift runs 100% inside your browser using WebAssembly and Canvas. Your images never leave your device — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

How does PicShift open HEIC and TIFF files?

A full ImageMagick engine compiled to WebAssembly loads on demand (about 14 MB, once). It decodes HEIC/HEIF photos from iPhone and TIFF scans locally, then re-encodes them to the format you choose.

Is there a limit on the number of images?

No artificial limits. Drop 100+ images at once — a pool of Web Workers processes them in parallel without freezing the page, and you can grab everything as one ZIP.

Does PicShift remove EXIF metadata?

Yes. Converted images are re-encoded from raw pixels, which strips EXIF data including GPS location — an extra privacy win over many online converters.
