Frequently asked questions
Which EQ bands control which part of the sound?
Roughly: 32–64 Hz is sub-bass you feel more than hear; 125–250 Hz is body and warmth, and also where mixes turn muddy; 500 Hz–1 kHz carries most of the fundamental of voices and guitars; 2–4 kHz is presence and consonant clarity — the range that makes speech intelligible; 8–16 kHz is air and sibilance. If a mix sounds boxy, cut around 250 Hz before boosting anything.
Should I cut or boost?
Cutting is almost always safer. Boosting adds energy and eats headroom, so several boosts together push the file toward clipping and force you to lower the overall level anyway. Cutting the frequency that bothers you achieves the same balance while leaving headroom intact. A good habit: fix problems with cuts, use boosts sparingly for character.
Why does my EQ change sound different on other speakers?
Because you are hearing your playback system as much as the file. Laptop speakers reproduce almost nothing below 150 Hz, so a bass cut made on them is inaudible there and drastic on headphones. Check any significant EQ decision on at least two devices, and be suspicious of large low-frequency moves made on small speakers.
Are my audio files uploaded?
Never. Your file is decoded and processed with the Web Audio API directly in your browser. It never touches a server — processing even works offline.
What formats can I upload and download?
Upload anything your browser can play: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A/AAC and FLAC in most browsers. The processed result downloads as a high-quality WAV file.
Is it really free? Any length limit?
