A QR code is just an encoding of a short piece of text, which means a code you generate here contains your destination directly and nothing else. There is no redirect through a third-party domain that could expire, start counting scans or later resolve somewhere you did not choose. The link builders do the same job for URLs: they assemble the parameters correctly so a chat opens with your message prefilled, or a campaign link carries the tracking tags your analytics expects.

About these tools

Static codes outlive dynamic ones

Most free QR generators produce a code pointing at their own short domain, so the printed sticker only works while that company keeps the redirect alive and free. Codes made here encode the final destination itself. They cannot be edited afterwards, which is the honest trade: what you print is exactly what people reach, for as long as your own URL exists.

What to encode besides a URL

QR codes can carry Wi-Fi credentials so guests join without typing a password, a vCard so a scan drops your details straight into a phone's contacts, a phone number, an email draft, or plain text. Each type has a defined text syntax, and getting one character wrong produces a code that scans but does nothing useful — which is exactly the part these builders take care of.

Chat and campaign links

A WhatsApp link is a normal URL with the number in international format and the message percent-encoded, and a campaign link is your page URL plus UTM parameters in the order your analytics tool reads them. Both are easy to assemble incorrectly by hand and produce silent failures: a chat that opens empty, or a visit that lands in the wrong report.
